What is Microneedling?
You may hear microneedling called collagen induction therapy, percutaneous collagen induction, or skin needling. What to Expect From Microneedling

Before beginning, a technician will put some topical anesthetic on the area to be treated to help dull the sensation. After that, the technician will use a dermaroller or dermapen to open up the micro-channels in your face. Our microneedling service generally lasts between 30 and 45 minutes. We use only sterilized and disposable cartridges to keep you safe.
There may be some discomfort as well as some bleeding. However, most patients enjoy a painless experience.
Pre-Treatment Tips
- Do not wear makeup to the appointment—it will have to be removed.
- Avoid Botox, filler treatments, and resurfacing for at least 2 weeks before your appointment.
- Avoid Retinol and at-home exfoliating peels for at least 7 days pre-treatment.
- If you have been recently sunburned, wait at least 3 weeks for your skin to heal before getting microneedling done.
- Open up your schedule, as there is a recovery period.
Post-Treatment Tips
- Do not wear cosmetics for 1-2 days post-treatment.
- Do not use harsh scrubs, chemicals, retinol, or acids for 5-10 days after your treatment.
- Avoid sun exposure for a few days after your treatment.
- Do not break a sweat for 1-2 days.
- There is likely to be swelling, redness, and tenderness, so a cool mask is recommended to help relieve pain and inflammation.

Is There Any Downtime?
Oh yes. Microneedling does involve puncturing the skin of the treated area, meaning that your body is going to react. Do not plan on returning to work or school any time soon. You may also want to avoid going to events for a few days after the treatment. Redness and noticeable swelling will diminish within 1-2 days.
When Will I See Results?
Although your skin may be red and inflamed shortly after your treatment, you will notice improvements almost overnight. Visible results, including firming and brightening, start to occur around 2-3 days post-treatment. Within 3 weeks, the results will be most noticeable. However, if you continue on with microneedling, your results will continue to get better after 3-6 months after your last session. You can also continue with maintenance appointments to keep your skin looking young, fresh, and wrinkle-free.

Despite the repeated puncturing of your skin, microneedling is minimally invasive, FDA-approved, and does not typically cause adverse reactions.
