An Interview with Terence
With a unique journey spanning orthopedics, aesthetics, and regenerative medicine, Terence Kazlow brings unparalleled expertise and passion to DrSkin Plastic Surgery, Regenerative & Medical Spa. Born and raised in New York City, Terence’s career began in orthopedics, where he spent over a decade developing innovative pain management solutions and earning several patents. His dedication to improving lives led to collaborations with major retailers like Walmart, Rite Aid, and CVS.
With thousands of hours of experience in advanced technologies and treatments—including lasers, RF and ultrasound devices, neuromodulators, dermal fillers, PDO threads, fat grafting, plastic surgery, and regenerative medicine—Terence transitioned to the field of aesthetics in 2017. Drawing on his extensive knowledge, he quickly rose from a representative role to a managerial position within two years, gaining invaluable insights into both clinical and operational aspects of aesthetic medicine. Over the next six years, he continued to build on his expertise, earning credentials and becoming fluent in the technologies and treatments that define modern, non-surgical aesthetics.
A Journey to Empowering Beauty and Confidence
Terence was born and raised in NYC and grew up on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. He was a standout AP high school student, winning schoolwide speaking and writing competitions, and graduating third in his class. He later attended the University of Rochester for undergraduate studies and was a double major. He played linebacker for the Yellow Jackets, was in a fraternity, and participated in debate.
After college, Terence drove cross-country to California to pursue his passion for acting. His relentless drive was rewarded with appearances in TV shows like Charmed, JAG, and 90210. But ultimately his desire for something more meaningful, a career that would change lives, took him back cross-country to New York.
Once back in NY, he discovered a medical career focused on orthopedics and extremities. He spent 12 years in orthopedics and developed several patented pain management products that were eventually sold to Walmart, Rite Aid, and CVS. In 2017, Terence decided to step outside of his comfort zone and moved back to Los Angeles, CA, where he began his career in medical aesthetics as a manufacturer’s sales rep, not realizing where his career might lead.
Terence quickly grew into a sales manager position and spent thousands of hours in the field learning and perfecting his trade by working for some of the top manufacturers in the industry today: from wavelengths and chromophores to spot sizes and clinical endpoints. During this time, he realized the impact that he could make on people’s everyday lives. During a product demonstration, Terence realized that aesthetics wasn’t just about beautifying or enhancing someone’s aesthetic or physique. Rather it was about touching their soul and changing their perspective on who they are and how they felt about themselves, by rejuvenating their confidence and self-esteem, from the outside in.

Q & A with Terence
Is there anything about your education and training that patients might find unique or interesting?
Yes, I started my aesthetics career as a laser manufacturer’s representative and grew into a sales manager role shortly thereafter. I spent 6 years in the field learning the industry—the devices, protocols, and jailbreaking equipment to maximize each treatment for every patient. Delivering life-changing results to patients during the equipment-buying process really helped me understand what offices and patients look for when seeking and undergoing treatment. As providers, we want devices that deliver safe, proven, and predictable results. Patients want the same. Before my time in aesthetics, I spent 12 years in orthopedics and learned the importance of mobility and movement on a person’s ability to enjoy life. From there, I developed several patented products that were eventually sold to Walmart, Rite Aid, and CVS. My experience in orthopedics provided me with insight into serious conditions, deformities, and injuries related to bones, joints, tendons, and ligaments. Today, my education, collective training, and decades of experience serve as valuable and distinguishable assets to patients seeking the aesthetic and regenerative medical services offered at DrSkin Med Spa.
What is your patient care philosophy?
My philosophy on patient care is similar to my philosophy on life: people first, then build relationships through trust, and engage in open, honest, and authentic communication. Treat people with respect, compassion, and dignity, and never compromise your moral being or values for money.
What do you like most about helping patients?
The ability to change someone’s life. Every day is anew with the opportunity to make a difference. In life, there are very few professions where people can make that kind of daily impact on people from all walks of life. While helping people look their best may seem superficial on the surface, the work we do at our practice doesn’t just impact a patient’s physical and aesthetic, but also their mental, emotional, and even spiritual well-being. Looking good is feeling good, and feeling good means seeing life through a different lens. Being comfortable in your skin gives patients a new outlook or perspective on life and can have a ripple effect through their entire being, affecting not just everything they do, but everyone they do it with. When you’re confident about who you are, you can achieve anything in life!
What methods did you employ to accomplish your goal of becoming successful in your career?
Much like sales, to be successful in life, one must employ the right strategy. This includes a willingness and commitment to lifelong learning and continued education. Adaptability is also vitally important because business and life are dynamic and ever-changing, and if you don’t adapt, you get left behind. My strategy for success also requires a commitment to excellence, which includes hard work and dedication to my craft, and those around me. I understand that not every quality I possess is a strength, some are weaknesses that, even to this day, I must learn to overcome or work through. Goal setting is also critical to success because without short- and long-term objectives one cannot know what they can achieve and push their limits even further. I believe in setting the bar extremely high, and my expectations of myself are equally high, which helps push me to work smarter and harder at achieving my goals. When I check one goal off, I write down another one—even more lofty and challenging. I believe that I must continuously challenge myself in all facets of life if I want to grow and become the best version of myself. You have to dream before your dreams can come true!
What do you like to do in your leisure time when you are not seeing patients?
I love the outdoors, hiking, exploring, and seeing new places I’ve never seen. I also enjoy winter sports like skiing and snowboarding. I like physical fitness, regular exercise, golf, and tennis. Fine dining, musicals, theater, dance, sporting events, concerts, traveling, and trips to the beach are some of my favorite activities.
What three words best describe you?
Ambitious. Methodical. Strategic.
What mentors do you currently have, or have you had, during your career who made a lasting impact on you?
My biggest mentors throughout my life and career have been my parents. I was raised with the belief and mindset that if you put your head down and do the work, you can achieve anything in life! I practice that philosophy to this day, and while I’ve probably failed more than I’ve succeeded, at least I tried. I am extremely results-driven, and as a native New Yorker, I’m not afraid of rolling up my sleeves to get the job done and then some. Other influences include writers and artists, MJ Demarco, Oren Klaff, Dr. Robert Cialdini, MD, Allen Weiss, PhD, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Keith Haring, Mr. Brainwash, and Banksy.
Why do patients choose you, and what makes you different and unique?
Patients choose me because of my expertise, knowledge, and open and honest communication. I understand laser technologies better than most of my peers in the industry, including experienced physicians and clinicians, because I spent years focusing on wavelengths, spot sizes, chromophores, and clinical endpoints from the manufacturer’s side. Because of my experience in sales, I am also an extrovert by nature and enjoy meeting and learning about people. This leads to authentic communication and relationships built on trust, respect, dignity, and compassion, which is a win-win for everyone.
