On the day of your chin augmentation, you will arrive at our office, where you will be greeted by a clinician who will lead you to a private treatment room and begin preparing you for surgery. Once situated, Dr. Jaiswal will meet with you to review the details of your chin augmentation. You’ll be able to review the full details of your procedure, take a look at your chin implant, and present any last-minute questions. As you’re being prepared for surgery, Dr. Jaiswal will provide you with an oral sedative to calm your nerves and put you at ease. He will once again discuss his approach to your surgery, including where he will make the incisions, the type of sutures he plans to use, how he will insert the chin implant, any expected discomfort, and review your post-operative instructions.
For patients seeking chin width reduction, which is often part of a feminizing or contour-refining procedure, Dr. Jaiswal may perform a horizontal cut along the chin bone, remove a small wedge of bone, and then reattach the chin to achieve a shorter, narrower shape. This technique is designed to create a more delicate, square-shaped chin that aligns with feminine facial aesthetics. Once you are fully prepared, local anesthesia with epinephrine will be administered to the area to ensure your comfort throughout your surgery. The surgery begins with Dr. Jaiswal creating an incision underneath your chin. Through this incision, Dr. Jaiswal will create a small pocket to place the implant and fit it around the chin bone. The incision will then be closed with carefully placed dissolvable internal sutures, external sutures, or a combination of both, followed by a small bandage over the site for protection. The entire procedure typically takes about an hour to perform.
