What Is Microchanneling?
Microchanneling is an advanced form of microneedling designed to deliver targeted rejuvenation with exceptional precision and minimal downtime. Unlike traditional microneedling or RF Microneedling, which manually creates controlled micro-injuries across the skin’s surface, Microchanneling uses a specialized device that stamps ultra-fine channels into the skin at a consistent depth. The Procell Therapies MD device oscillates to help mitigate discomfort. These tiny microchannels trigger the body’s natural healing response, which in turn, boosts collagen and elastin production while maximizing the absorption of potent growth serums and peptides. Unlike other forms of needling the channels are all symmetrical and even, the provider cannot drag the device across the surface of the skin.
Procell specifically offers a variety of depths and specialized face and body tips to maximize each treatment for every patient– collagen stimulation starts at .25mm. This innovative treatment is ideal for reducing the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, and uneven skin tone, all while enhancing overall texture and firmness. Microchanneling not only strengthens the skin’s structure from within but also amplifies hydration and radiance at the surface. Most treatments do not require numbing– only ones at deeper depths.

Where Can Microchanneling in Tempe, AZ, Be Performed?
- Face: The face is one of the most requested areas for Microchanneling treatments—and for good reason. This targeted rejuvenation can soften fine lines around the eyes and mouth, reduce acne scars, and improve overall tone and texture. By stimulating collagen at a cellular level, Microchanneling restores a firmer, smoother, and more youthful appearance, all while preserving your skin’s natural character.
- Neck and Décolletage: Often overlooked but just as revealing as the face, the neck and décolleté respond beautifully to Microchanneling. Treatments in this area help to diminish horizontal neck lines, sun damage, and crepey texture, resulting in a more contoured and refined look. With consistent care, skin becomes visibly firmer, brighter, and better aligned with the vibrancy of your face.
- Scalp: Microchanneling the scalp is an exciting treatment option for individuals exploring hair restoration. By creating microchannels across targeted areas, this technique enhances the delivery of growth factors, peptides, and nourishing serums, optimizing scalp health and supporting stronger, fuller-looking hair over time.
- Body: Microchanneling isn’t limited to the face. It’s a powerful option for rejuvenating various body zones, including the abdomen, upper arms, thighs, hands, back, and shoulders. Whether addressing post-pregnancy laxity, stretch marks, crepey skin, or acne scarring, this treatment helps smooth and firm targeted areas with noticeable improvement in texture and tone.

However, Microchanneling may not be suitable for individuals with active skin infections, autoimmune skin disorders, or certain inflammatory conditions such as eczema or psoriasis. Patients who are pregnant, have used Accutane within the past six months, or are currently on high-dose retinoids should speak with their provider before starting treatment. At DrSkin Med Spa, Master Esthetician and Certified Laser Technician Joy Chapman, CE, CLT, LSO, personally evaluates each client’s skin condition, goals, and medical history to determine if ProCell Microchanneling is the right choice. With her thoughtful, hands-on approach and dedication to safe, effective treatment, you’ll receive a customized experience designed to bring out your skin’s natural brilliance.
Preparing for Your Microchanneling Sessions
Proper preparation is key to achieving the best results from your ProCell Microchanneling treatment. Prior to your session, you’ll meet with our experts, including Master Esthetician and Certified Laser Technician Joy Chapman, to assess your skin and customize your treatment plan. In the days leading up to your appointment, we recommend avoiding retinoids, exfoliants, and any products that could increase sensitivity. It’s also essential to protect your skin from prolonged sun exposure to minimize the risk of irritation.
On the day of your treatment, arrive with clean, product-free skin, and avoid wearing makeup or heavy skincare. Staying well-hydrated and avoiding alcohol and blood-thinning medications (such as aspirin or ibuprofen) can help reduce the likelihood of bruising and support your skin’s natural healing process. If you have a medical condition or are taking prescription medications, please inform our staff during your consultation to ensure the highest standard of care.
At DrSkin Med Spa, your health, safety, and comfort are our top priorities. We’ll provide clear, detailed aftercare instructions and remain available to support you through every phase of your skin-revitalizing journey. What to Expect on the Day of Your Microchanneling Treatment?
When you arrive at DrSkin Med Spa for your microchanneling treatment, our welcoming team will check you in and escort you to a private treatment suite where comfort and care go hand in hand. Joy Chapman will personally review your customized treatment plan and answer any remaining questions to ensure you feel informed and at ease.
Numbing is only done at deeper depths and for body treatments. Superficial depths of .25 or .5mm typically doesn’t require the extra step of numbing. If necessary, Joy will begin by thoroughly cleansing your skin before applying a topical numbing cream that typically includes a BLT 20/10/10 formulation (benzocaine, lidocaine, tetracaine), which will help to minimize sensitivity and enhance your comfort. You’ll relax for approximately 45 to 60 minutes as the numbing takes full effect.
Once you’re prepped, Joy will use the ProCell Microchanneling device to deliver consistent, controlled microchannels across the treatment area. This process usually takes 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the size of the targeted zone. Immediately afterward, she’ll apply professional-grade serums, such as growth factors, exosomes, or platelet-rich plasma (PRP), to supercharge your skin’s regenerative response.
Mild redness or tightness, similar to a light sunburn, is normal and typically fades within a few hours to a couple of days. Since Microchanneling involves little to no downtime, most patients can return to regular activities shortly after their session.
Microchanneling Recovery
Recovery from ProCell Microchanneling is typically quick and straightforward, with most patients experiencing only mild side effects. Immediately after your treatment, you may notice light redness, sensitivity, or a gentle warmth in the treated area. Slight swelling or pinpoint dryness is also possible and usually resolves within 6 to 72 hours.
To support optimal healing, it’s important to keep your skin well-hydrated and protected. Avoid retinoids, exfoliating agents, and active ingredients for at least five to seven days post-treatment. Apply a soothing, non-comedogenic moisturizer and use a mineral-based, broad-spectrum sunscreen daily to shield your skin from UV exposure. Refrain from touching, scratching, or exfoliating the area, as this can disrupt the natural recovery process and lead to potential scarring.
Some patients experience light peeling or flaking a few days after treatment, which signals that skin renewal is underway. To prevent irritation, we recommend avoiding hot showers, steam rooms, saunas, and intense workouts for the first 48 hours. These precautions help ensure your skin heals smoothly and comfortably.
At DrSkin Med Spa, your aftercare is just as important as your treatment. Master Esthetician and Certified Laser Technician Joy Chapman, CE, CLT, LSO, will provide personalized guidance and support to ensure your skin continues to improve long after your appointment. With the right care, you’ll enjoy a complexion that looks refreshed, revitalized, and beautifully radiant.

Frequently Asked Questions—Procell Therapies
What is Procell microchanneling?
Procell microchanneling represents an innovative and transformative approach to skin rejuvenation, leveraging advanced technology to enhance epidermal regeneration and stimulate cellular activity. By creating thousands of minuscule microchannels within the skin’s surface, Procell initiates a controlled inflammatory response, which triggers a cascade of healing processes, ultimately producing new collagen and elastin fibers. These micro-perforations serve as channels for optimal absorption of potent, clinically validated growth factor serums derived from stem cells, further amplifying the skin’s natural repair mechanisms. The repeated cycle of microchanneling, coupled with the regenerative properties of these serums, works synergistically to promote substantial improvements in skin texture, elasticity, and overall appearance. This process results in a profound rejuvenation of the skin, making Procell microchanneling one of the most effective non-invasive treatments for comprehensive skin renewal. Suitable for all skin types, genders, and ages, Procell microchanneling offers a versatile solution for addressing a broad range of skin concerns. These include but are not limited to, fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity, acne scars, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, stretch marks, and even hair regrowth. The treatment’s efficacy is supported by its ability to target multiple layers of the skin, stimulating both superficial and deeper layers to restore the skin’s vitality and health. With consistent application, Procell fosters a rejuvenated, youthful complexion and is heralded as a powerful, non-surgical alternative for those seeking significant improvements in skin quality.
What's in Procell's delivery serum?
As we age, there is a natural decline in the number and function of stem cells, paralleling the decrease in hormones and peptides within the body. Stem cells, often called the body’s intrinsic healers, play a pivotal role in tissue regeneration, repair, and overall homeostasis. Maintaining an adequate supply of functional stem cells is crucial for supporting the body’s natural healing processes and mitigating the effects of aging. Procell’s microchannel delivery serum has been meticulously formulated to address this need by incorporating bone marrow-derived stem cell cultures rich in growth factors and within a hyaluronic acid suspension. This serum is further enhanced with peptides, growth factors, and stem cell-derived cytokines, all of which work synergistically to deliver a potent anti-aging and anti-inflammatory effect. The specific combination of these biologically active ingredients is designed to accelerate healing, reduce hyperpigmentation, and minimize scar tissue formation, thereby promoting a more youthful and even skin tone. Notably, all components of the serum naturally occur within the human body, ensuring that no foreign substances—whether human, animal, or plant-derived cells, DNA, blood, or other materials—are involved in the treatment. Procell’s delivery serum has been utilized safely and effectively for over a decade, and its application in microchanneling therapies significantly amplifies the body’s collagen production, further enhancing the regenerative response and overall aesthetic outcomes. This makes Procell a highly effective and safe treatment for rejuvenating skin and addressing a variety of skin concerns.
What skin conditions does Procell microchanneling help with?
Procell microchanneling is a sophisticated and highly effective therapeutic modality that significantly enhances skin texture, tone, and elasticity. By stimulating the body’s intrinsic regenerative processes, this treatment addresses a wide array of skin concerns, making it an invaluable tool in aesthetic and restorative dermatology. Notably, Procell microchanneling is particularly beneficial for the treatment of acne scars and surgical scars, where it accelerates the healing process and improves skin’s appearance by promoting the formation of new, healthy tissue. Additionally, it effectively diminishes the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles, contributing to a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance by encouraging collagen and elastin synthesis. Beyond its impact on aging skin, Procell microchanneling also addresses hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tones, and rosacea, fostering a more uniform complexion. For individuals dealing with stretch marks, skin laxity, or general loss of skin firmness, this treatment helps to restore both texture and elasticity, promoting smoother, firmer skin. Furthermore, Procell microchanneling has shown promising results in hair restoration, stimulating the scalp and revitalizing dormant follicles to promote new hair growth. In sum, this versatile treatment not only improves the aesthetic appearance of the skin but also enhances its overall health and vitality, making it an ideal solution for a broad spectrum of skin concerns.
Does Procell microchanneling hurt?
No, Procell microchanneling is well-tolerated and associated with little to no discomfort. The minimally invasive procedure does not typically require the application of numbing cream, as most patients report experiencing no pain during treatment. While individual sensitivities may vary, the sensation during the procedure is often described as a mild prickling or tingling rather than significant discomfort. This makes Procell microchanneling an extremely comfortable option for individuals seeking effective skin rejuvenation with minimal invasiveness. Furthermore, any transient discomfort experienced typically resolves promptly after the treatment, allowing patients to resume their daily activities without interruption.
Are there any contraindications for Procell treatment?
Several contraindications must be considered before undergoing Procell microchanneling treatment to ensure safety and efficacy. These include the presence of open wounds, active acne, cold sores, or any other inflammatory skin conditions, as such conditions may compromise the healing process or exacerbate inflammation. Additionally, individuals who are pregnant or nursing should avoid this procedure, as the potential effects on fetal or neonatal health remain unstudied. A history of recent Accutane (isotretinoin) use also poses a significant concern, as it may result in skin that is overly fragile or sensitive, increasing the risk of adverse reactions. Other essential contraindications include bleeding disorders, which could complicate healing, as well as chronic inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis, which the microchanneling process may aggravate. Patients undergoing active radiation or chemotherapy should refrain from treatment due to potentially compromised skin integrity and the body’s impaired healing response.
Furthermore, individuals with known stainless steel allergies or compromised immune systems should exercise caution, as their ability to heal effectively might be diminished. Given these potential contraindications, patients must consult a qualified physician or licensed medical professional before undergoing Procell treatment. A thorough evaluation will determine individual suitability for the procedure, ensuring that the treatment is safe and tailored to the patient’s needs.
How do I prepare for my Procell treatment?
To ensure optimal results and minimize potential skin irritation, preparing properly for a Procell microchanneling treatment is essential. At least three days before your appointment, discontinue retinol, tretinoin, and other potent exfoliating agents, as these may increase skin sensitivity and interfere with the healing process. Additionally, refrain from using other harsh exfoliants or abrasive skincare products for several days before your treatment to prevent undue irritation or damage to the skin barrier. It is also crucial to avoid unprotected sun exposure or sunburn for at least 24 hours before your procedure, as sun-damaged skin can be more prone to inflammation and adverse reactions following microchanneling. Similarly, refrain from waxing, the use of bleaching creams, or undergoing electrolysis in the treatment area for 5 to 7 days prior, as these processes can compromise the skin’s integrity and increase the likelihood of irritation during the procedure. On the day of the treatment, arrive with a clean, makeup-free face to ensure that the treatment area is free of any residues that could interfere with the microchanneling process. Before treatment, consult thoroughly with your provider to discuss any specific pre-treatment instructions tailored to your unique medical history, skin concerns, and aesthetic goals. By adhering to these preparatory guidelines, you will help optimize the effectiveness of the Procell treatment and promote a smoother, more rejuvenated complexion.
How many Procell treatments will I need?
For optimal therapeutic outcomes, the typical treatment protocol for Procell microchanneling involves a series of 3 to 6 sessions spaced approximately 3 to 4 weeks apart. The precise number of treatments required is determined by the severity of the patient’s skin concerns. For instance, individuals seeking to address mild issues, such as fine lines or superficial texture irregularities, may achieve satisfactory results with only 1 to 2 treatments. However, for more profound concerns, such as deep wrinkles, acne or surgical scars, or significant skin laxity, an entire course of 6 treatments may be necessary to achieve the desired aesthetic improvements. Following the completion of the initial treatment regimen, quarterly maintenance sessions are strongly recommended to preserve and enhance the gains made during the primary phase of treatment. Maintenance is a critical component of the long-term success of Procell microchanneling, as the skin’s natural aging process continues over time. Periodic treatments sustain the initial results and allow for the ongoing management of emerging skin concerns, ensuring a consistently youthful and rejuvenated appearance. Patients need to consult with a licensed and skilled practitioner to tailor a personalized treatment plan to their unique skin type, concerns, and aesthetic goals. A thorough discussion of your needs and expectations will help determine the optimal number of Procell sessions to achieve the most effective and long-lasting results.
How long does recovery from Procell take?
Recovery following a Procell microchanneling treatment is generally swift and well-tolerated, with most patients experiencing minimal downtime. The post-treatment period typically involves mild erythema (redness) and slight swelling, which resolves within a few hours to a day after the procedure. It is common for the treated skin to feel warm or tight immediately after the treatment, as the microchanneling process stimulates the skin’s natural healing response. In the days following the procedure, patients may observe mild desquamation (sloughing) of the skin, typically lasting for up to three days, as the skin sheds damaged cells and accelerates the regeneration of new tissue. This shedding process is a normal part of the treatment’s efficacy, contributing to the improved texture and tone of the skin. Most patients can resume their normal daily activities and routines almost immediately after the treatment, as the procedure does not require significant recovery time. However, individuals need to follow the post-treatment care instructions provided by their practitioner to optimize healing and ensure the best possible results. While the recovery period is generally brief, patients should expect temporary skin changes as the body naturally regenerates the treated area.
What are the side effects of Procell treatments?
Procell microchanneling treatments are generally associated with mild, transient side effects that are part of the skin’s natural healing response. These effects typically include erythema (redness), swelling, and a sensation of tightness or warmth, which usually subside within a few hours to a day following the procedure. Such reactions are common and are generally well-tolerated by most patients. Individuals with more sensitive skin may experience heightened irritation, though this is typically temporary and resolves as the skin recovers. It is advisable to refrain from applying skincare products to the treated area for a minimum of 90 minutes after the procedure. During this period, it is normal for the skin to remain pink or light red, reflecting the underlying stimulation of the dermal layers. Once the 90-minute window has passed, patients may resume their skincare routine, applying a gentle moisturizer or other non-irritating products to support the skin’s recovery. However, it is important to note that the skin may remain more sensitive than usual for several days following the treatment. As a result, the use of potent or active ingredients, such as retinoids or exfoliants, should be avoided until the skin has returned to its baseline state. This precaution helps to prevent potential irritation and ensures optimal healing. By adhering to post-treatment guidelines and allowing the skin to recover gradually, patients can maximize the benefits of Procell microchanneling while minimizing the risk of adverse reactions.
How soon will I see my Procell results?
Patients often observe an immediate enhancement in their skin’s radiance following Procell’s microchanneling treatment and accompanying serum delivery, with initial results evident within the first 24 hours. These early improvements typically manifest as a subtle glow and increased skin vitality. However, the most pronounced changes, including a significant skin texture and tone refinement, generally emerge within the first few weeks post-treatment. It is important to recognize that the full extent of the treatment’s effects, particularly the formation of neo-collagen and neo-elastin (new collagen and elastin fibers), may take several months to materialize fully. This delayed response is due to the time required for the body to naturally synthesize and incorporate these vital structural proteins into the dermal layers. As the regenerative process progresses, the skin becomes firmer, more resilient, and visibly rejuvenated, contributing to a more youthful and radiant complexion. This extended timeline underscores the transformative nature of Procell microchanneling, wherein the visible results build progressively as the body’s natural healing mechanisms continue to enhance skin integrity and overall appearance.
Can Procell microchanneling be used anywhere on the body?
Yes, Procell microchanneling is a versatile and highly effective treatment modality that can be applied to nearly every area of the body, including the face, neck, under-eye region, arms, legs, abdomen, back, and hands. This advanced microchanneling technique is capable of addressing a wide range of dermatological concerns, making it a comprehensive solution for skin rejuvenation. Procell microchanneling is beneficial for treating aesthetic imperfections such as stretch marks, acne and surgical scars, fine lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity. By stimulating the body’s natural healing processes and promoting collagen and elastin production, Procell enhances skin texture, tone, and elasticity across diverse areas of the body. The treatment’s ability to effectively rejuvenate surface and deeper dermal layers allows for significant improvements in skin appearance, offering a holistic approach to skin renewal.
