What is Kybella®?

What to Expect at a Kybella® Treatment

Here is what happens during a Kybella® treatment:
- Prior to the appointment, wash your face and do not apply any cosmetics. This will reduce the chance of infection. Also take an over-the-counter pain reliever.
- Your technician will mark the areas under your chin where the injectable is going with a marker.
- Local anesthesia may be used to dull the pain. Most sessions use between 20-50 injections under the chin.
- The acid begins working to kill the fat cells quickly. Over the next few weeks, your body will metabolize the dead fat cells, and the appearance of your double chin will melt away.
- After at least one month, you will return for another session, if necessary.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
You might be surprised to find out that every human has a unique chin profile. As such, sessions vary from person to person. Based on your personal goals and the amount of fat you have, the team at DrSkin will determine how many sessions are best for you.

Are There Any Side Effects From Kybella®?
The FDA approved Kybella for use on chin fat in 2015. It is a safe local injectable that causes little to no side effects. The only thing you need to be aware of is the swelling, redness, and tenderness under the chin. The swelling will last up to 10 days, and so you may need to wear a scarf or turtleneck to conceal the inflammation.
Discomfort should not be severe. Bruising is less noticeable than with liposuction, but every body is unique in how it reacts to and recovers from Kybella® and similar procedures.
